When we arrived over in Harli's room we could see that Harli had improved from the night before. Her color was really starting to get to normal, and she was starting to move around. When the doctor and nurse practitioner made their rounds they were glad to see she had improved, but were also very confused since they weren't able to figure out what was causing this little set back. They mentioned to us that they were going to keep her on antibiotics through the day and night. At eight this evening her blood cultures had been growing for forty eight hours and nothing had grown, so now they will start to remove her from the antibiotics. Since nothing has grown they will probably not be able to figure out what caused this set back.
They are hoping to start her on a little bit of milk tomorrow to see how she handles it. They will continue to lower her ventilator as long as she is tolerating it. If she continues the progress which she made today then she might be off the vent by late tomorrow afternoon. Blair was able to kangaroo Harli for three and a half hours and her vitals remained perfect. I know this was a very good feeling for both Blair and Harli, and also for dad to see the joy on Blair's face.
It was great seeing Harli being more active today, but it is still confusing since they have not been able to figure out what caused it. We can only pray for a quick recovery. The doctor is hoping to get her back on feedings as soon as possible so they do not have to put in another pick line.
So glad to hear she is feeling better. Hopefully she will be off the vent before I come back on Monday.
