February 13, 2012

Last night was a decent night for Harli.  She did have a couple times where she would just lay there and scream, but for the most part she just slept.

Today was a little rougher though.  Harli had quite a few times when her heart rate would drop, eleven to be exact.  The doctor had x-rays taken this morning and everything looked good in her belly so they started her on some milk this afternoon.  They started out with three cc's to see how she handled it and have plans of raising it quickly if she does well.  They once again had to move her IV today because the liquid nutrition is very hard on the veins, thankfully today they only had to stick her one time to get the IV in.  They checked her red blood cell count today since her heart rate was dropping so often.  It was low, but not low enough to warrant a blood transfusion.  They will check it again in the morning to see if she qualifies for a blood transfusion or not.  She will get another x-ray tonight on her lungs to see how they look being on three liters on the vapotherm machine.  More than likely they will do more x-rays in the morning to make sure things are in check.

Even though Harli had a little rougher day, Blair was able to go make a scrapbook page for Harli.  Our nurse took several pictures of Harli so Blair could make a nice collage.  Blair then was able to make some scrap book pages for other families who were not able to be there.

When I arrived in the module tonight I got to see my BEAUTIFUL wife holding out little angel.  Blair got to kangaroo Harli for four hours tonight which was great to watch, and the longest kangaroo session to date.  While Blair was holding Harli her vitals remained perfect.  To get to witness Blair holding Harli is something that can make an average day turn into the greatest day of your life, trust me.  We apologize for not having many pictures to put on the blog tonight. The way Harli was tucked in on Blair's chest did not allow for pictures to be taken.
